Memorial Day is RAINING!

UGH! I guess it forced me to stay inside to clean the house. We leave to go to Colonial Williamsburg on Saturday. The very first vacation we have had without any children, it will be so weird. I am looking forward to it in the worst way, the last few months at work I have been busting my rear trying to get a new project up and running. We finish it in a few weeks. I hope the hard work has paid off for me, I know that it is the coolest technology around, but it does have a few things that need to be thought through.

My little sister is coming by the house to water my plants for me while I am gone, I was so worried about them until Steve mentioned she would be perfect to do it, since she is now out of school for the summer, since she is now a full time teacher. Isn't he a genius?

Took my new camera to the river to have Wendy (baby Sis) show me how to delete pictures off the camera after I take them. The instruction bookelet does not mention how to do that, I think that is so weird. It tells you how to delete all of them, but not just one, and the technique is so different.

Spoke to my daughter on the phone tonight, I have not heard from her for days, turns out she has had food poisoning. She has had a sad few days recovering while her hubby was home doin gall the fun stuff with the kids. She gets sick so often, but usually when he is working, so she has to drag herself around and tend to the little ones anyway. She was not happy he was home doing fun things while she recovered, but what can you do? Sometimes your health dictates your agenda.

Well got to get to bed, it is late, got to work four days and finish packing to go on the trip.

WOW Time sure does fly!

I went to my sister Michelle's party on Saturday night, the Fly Swat Saloon. Had a great time, I made 5 pies for the desserts, I took some pictures, will post them later. This blog is a mess! Weeds everywhere, I am embarrassed. Jen has been doing a much better job than me. Here is a grandma quote:

"A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend." Old Saying

"No matter how old a mother is, she watches her middle-aged children for signs of improvment." Florida Scott-Maxwell

"You don't have to look like a granny to be one." Anonymous

"A home without a grandmother is like an egg without salt." Florence King

"The best way to make children good is to make them happy." Oscar Wilde

No flood photos

By the time I remembered to take my camera down to the river, the water had receded. THANK GOODNESS!

Nothing more to tell you, I am at work, it's around 7:30pm and I still have more to do. TATA for now.

Grandma Quotes

I wish I had taken some pictures of the Missouri River and Silver Creek climbing out of thier banks. The water is everwhere. We drove to a little town east of us yesterday to witness 4 homes being recued by boats.

Grandma Quote: May4th: "If I had known how wonderful it would be to have grandchildren, I'd have had them first." Lois Wyse

May 5th & 6th: "Children's Children are a crown to the aged...." Proverbs 17:6

May 7th: "If youth but had the knowledge and old age the strength." French Proverb

I'll get pictures of the water for you all to see. The river sits 1/2 mile from my house. I used to live on the hill, and never worried about water, but now I watch it like a hawk.

Copying Tarbender Dee

1. What is a question that people ask you that always gets on your nerves? when I show them my handmade glass beads, "DID YOU MAKE THOSE?" Ha ha, I know they ask just because they can't believe it, but it cracks me up
2. Name something you have in common with all your siblings. We are prone to find fault with each other, and I hate that. We also are not loving and nurturing, we tend to fight and envy one another our successes instead of relishing in them. Some of the members of the POB are moody. Wendy and Michelle are very even tempered, I love that.
3. What is the greatest amount of physical pain you have ever endured? When I had back pain during labor with Isaac. He was worth it, though. I forgot all about it until you asked.
4. What number of drinks constitutes your limit? 2 or 3
5. Do you fold your underwear? Yes
6. Who is the last person you wrote a letter to? Thank you notes to my family that aren't mailed yet for the surprise birthday party
7. Have you fired a gun before? Yes and I did not like it!
8. Name someone you consider a genius. Cyrus Azar, a computer engineer I know
9. What was your favorite childhood toy? Chatty Kathy
10. Name a sound that disturbs you. The rain on the drain pipe outside our bedroom window, it often keeps me awake
11. Name something random that you would never do. Anything with snakes, I wouldn't jump off of anything, wouldn't bunjee jump or sky dive.
12. Name a person whose diary you would love to read? Albert Einstein or Johnny Cash and June Carter
13. Have you ever had the same dream more than once? I used to have a dream about this long room where the floor was really smooth, but it would get all wavy like it was liquid because the breeze was making it move. Used to freak me out and I would wake up panicked
14. Name a song that makes you sentimental? Amazing Grace
15. Name something that made you laugh this week. When we stuck our tongues out at the facial recognition application I am testing at work and it recognized me and let me into the computer
17. If you were in an emergency situation and you had to deliver a baby could you? Yes, barring any huge complications it is pretty cut and dried.
18. What are you doing now? doing these questions
19. What time did you get up this morning? 5:30am
20. If you were famous, what would you be famous for? I would have loved to been a genetecist. If I had the money and brains to study I would think I could have been very effective in research. And I would have liked to do forensics, but now I wonder if I could have handled it.
21. Name something you dislike about your mother. Her ability to turn her back on her children like they aren't even there. And the amount of venom she can spew at them without provocation
23. What is on your refrigerator door? Magnets, pictures that kids have drawn for me, phone numbers in alphabetical order
24. Name the closest thing to you that is green? Pen cover on a nice pen one of my co-workers gave me, and lime green post it notes
25. What would people guess or say your name is if they did not know? I used to get called many things when my mother owned a restaurant: Sunshine, Cinnamon, GiggleBox. Now I never get called anything, once they hear my name, the call me Cindy Loo Who, or Cindy Lou
26. Name something you have to do tomorrow. Make beads and clean my car
27. Name a movie you are looking forward to watching. Disturbia, just saw Wild Hogs
28. Have you ever called 911? Yes, in the nursing home for a patient

Friday's Grandma Quote

To keep the heart unwrinkled, to be hopeful, kindly, cheerful, reverent-that is to triumph over old age. Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Not going to Kansas City. I am so busy doing my real job, I can't justify that trip, even if it is the funnest one of the year. I am going to be sad while my friends are gone.

Life is so short

One of the girls I work with used to work at a company that sold shelving. She just touched base with an old friend from there last week. Today that old friend was taking a walk on her lunch break when a Cadillac lost control, hit her, pinning her beneath the car, killing her. The woman had 3 children at home, youngest was 4. I guess I just want you all to realize how precious life is........embrace it and cherish the time you have together.

I am on my way to Kansas City this weekend. After I take a couple of hours to talk to my darling daughter, who needs her Mommy to talk to her. I miss our chats. We sometimes talk about nothing. I spend most of my time listening to those little tiny voices in the background telling her different things, laughing or crying, I want to hear it all. I constantly ask her what my babies are doing while we visit.

Have a great weekend, I may not be able to check back in, but soon I will post photos of that Halloween thing we all did. It was so much fun!

Oh, Grandma Quote: today's: Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation. Lois Wyse

Grandma Quotes are piling up!

April 27th: women who outlive their daughters are orphans, Abuela tells me. Only their granddaughters can save them, guard their knowledge like the first fire. Cristina Garcia

April 28th&29th: Never have children, only grandchildren. Gore Vidal

April 30th: One Generation plants trees, another gets the shade. Chinese Proverb (How true, I drive by my old house and see the wonderful trees we planted shading the front porch where we loved to sit, but it was hot as ever at night, with the sun beating down on it! It grew wonderful hanging baskets of flowers, though)

May 1st: Grandmas are antique little girls. Old saying

We did a surprise baby shower for a girl here at work yesterday on our lunch break. She is having a little girl. Both of her children are little boys. Her youngest little boy's name is Noah. He is so cute. Almost as cute as my Noah! HA! Anyway, I had a ball buying little things. I got her a big box that had neat rattles in it, Noah's favorite books: The very hungry caterpillar, The pocket sized Dr. Seuss book: ABC, and the 5 little ladybugs (this one isn't Noah's favorite, but I love it, so cute). When she gives birth, I am getting her the Fancy Nancy books and another little outfit, just to have an excute to buy another one. Then a cute little pink outfit, and pink socks. She got so many cute little things. I struggled over this one little outfit, and decided not to buy it. Imagine my surprise when another of my co-workers got it for her instead. The girls even got her hubby to talk on a video tape about how he loved her and couldn't wait to hold his little girl in his arms for the first time. It was really neat. She cried, of course. HORMONES are a booger during those last months. HA! She left our organization awhile back to pursue another job. Hated that job, quit it in a few months, then waited until they posted her old position here, re-applied and came right back. I am sure glad she did, she is a great girl. Fun to work with, knowledgeable, and sweet. I enjoy her personality.

Well, got to get to work. My vendor is in from Salt Lake City. He and I are working hard to get my new application ready for our go-live. It is exciting, but exhausting, too. tata for now.

HOPPING! SKIPPING! JUMPING!

Oh, my life is so busy right now. I am getting ready for a bead show in Kansas City this weekend. I got a GPS unit for our vacation, been trying to learn how to use it before we go to VA. I had to do an update immediately when I got home to the system. The instruction booklet does not tell you that a different SD card should be inserted into the GPS prior to the download. So, I called Bass Pro where we purchased it, I got the SD card out of my camera. I took some photos off the card. This was done to open up enough memory on the SD card for the download, I got an error message I needed 2 more mb........UGH! I had so much fun looking at the photos of the Halloween party at Michelle's, it took twice as long to do the download.

Got the uploads done to the SD card, put it in the gps unit and did the download, but it made me think that I should share the photos from the Halloween party with you some day soon.

I will be off to KC this weekend for the bead show, it is so much fun each year to reconnect with old friends. We eat at wonderful places and laugh our heads off. What a great group of friends, they put up with me! I don't know why, unless it is for the laughs.
