Recipe Friday October 17 2008

This is a good idea, I think, if you need sweetened condensed milk and don't have any on hand:

Sweetened Condensed Milk

Ingredients
1/3 cup boiling water
4 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup powdered milk (recommended: Carnation)

Directions

Using an electric mixer, blend together water, butter, sugar, and vanilla.

Add powdered milk and blend until thick. Store in refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Yeah I love the Dorie Greenspan book, you should join the Tuesdays with Dorie group if you have the time. It is really fun and they make tons of amazing stuff. I was doing it, but didn't have the time for it anymore once my school semester started.

Good to know about the sweetened condensed milk, whenever I need it for a recipe I tend to never have any, so now I can just whip these up. Thanks!
